Here we go again, the autumn is here. The streets are filled in with the scent of pumpkin spice, the urge to rewatch Gilmore Girls is stronger than usual and the winter coats are making their appearance again. I always have such a hard time saying goodbye to the summer but I always find myself in love with the autumnal season every year.
Rennes and Mont-Saint-Michel
October is usually a pretty quiet month for me. I rarely plan much as it is a time to save some money
for Christmas but during the pandemic, I have promised myself that I will travel
and see places once I am able to. And I am happy to say that this year I have
been living up to this promise in 2022. At the start of the month, I went for a
short city break to France. It’s funny, I have never
been a fan of this country since I went there when I was 10 and did not like
it much but going to Paris in April completely changed my opinion. I love the
history, the food and obviously the fashion and beauty.
For a while, I
wanted to visit the iconic „castle on the hill“ (which I found out is actually an abbey on the hill),
Mont-Saint-Michel so I and my friend booked the flights earlier this year and
went for it. And it was amazing. Obviously, Mont-Saint-Michel is amazing but I
would also recommend visiting the city of Rennes if you are nearby (especially
if you love good food and drinks).
Autumn Fashion
Recently, I have
been taking more and more interest in fashion. As much as I love the summer since
I can wear dresses and not care much about putting the pieces together, I enjoy
autumn and the transitional period of layering. My only challenge is finding
a trench coat that does not need ironing every hour!
Comic-Con Scotland 2022
I would also like to mention that October 2022 will be forever known as the month in which I met Candice King aka Carolie Forbes from The Vampire Diaries. There was a comic con in Edinburgh earlier this month and some of the TVD cast were there too. The 17 y.o inside of me is still fangirling over this moment. I just hope next year one of the Salvatore brothers will make his appearance.
Candles
Autumn is the
season of candles. I personally burn candles all year long but when October
hits, I light candles daily. I usually pick candles from Yankee Candle or Bath
and Body Works but I really liked the design of the Rock On candle from Paddywax. I
mean, look at the jar!
I am not going to
lie, I picked this candle without looking much into the scent description so there
was a worry I won’t like it. Especially
since I usually pick much lighter scents. The gamble, however, paid off. The
candle is spicy with a fruity hint of sweet tangerine. It feels perfect for the
cold yet cosy. autumn evenings.
Despite being spicy, the scent is not too heavy and is pleasant to have on
for several hours in the living room or in the office. Moreover, I am pleasantly
surprised at how long it burns and how little wax disappears. Although the candle
is fairly small weighing only 163g, it offers whooping 35hours of burn time.
This was my first
experience with Paddywax and I am very keen to try more of their selection.
